An Indian’s life expectancy varies very widely depending on where you live and what your gender is. India’s overall life expectancy at birth has gone up from 49.7 in 1970-75 to 69.4 by 2014-18. Earlier, the annual increase in life expectancy was 2-3 years between 1970 and 1990. But the improvement has been a mere 0.4 years annually in the last decade. An Indian’s life expectancy also jumps by almost 3 years if s/he survives the first year of life. | The Times of India
