Multi syllabic words can be overwhelming to a child. Break these words down at first into their syllables. Get your child to read and blend one syllable at a time before putting them together to read the word. As they become more confident, they should transition to doing this in their heads before reading at speed. Note: to identify the syllables in a word, put your hand under your chin whilst saying the word. When your chin touches your hand that is a syllable! #reading #fluency #learningtorea
