The giant cockle sea shell commonly found along Southwest Florida beaches but normally not alive like this one. The shell can reach up to 4-5 inches across. Florida Pricklycockle . The exteriors of the shells are white occasionally with splashes of brown or purple. The shells interiors are colorful, with pink, salmon, and purple. The shell is oval and inflated, with the beaks nearly central. The exteriors are sculptured with numerous radial ribs that are studded with sharp, regular scales.
