New efforts are underway to record and preserve our beautiful Cherokee language. ❤️ The Cherokee Nation Language Department has been meeting with Cherokee Speakers to record their conversations and has already recorded 282 Cherokee Speakers speaking for a total of 352.5 hours, with a goal of reaching 10,000 hours. The hope is that these recordings will assist and be a point of reference for second-language learners in the future. Speakers being recorded for this project must be fluent and posses

We're working with Cherokee Nation's ᏗᏣᎳᎩ ᏗᎪᏪᎶᏗ Cherokee syllabary workbook. We are reformatting it into a set of smaller booklets. Here is the a-column of syllables, following the alphabetic order of the syllabary. ᏗᏕᏲᎲᏍᎩ ᎤᏓᏠᎯᏓ begins by discussing the back cover and the set of syllables created by ᏍᏍᏉᏯ. He notes that we have dropped the Ꮐ syllable. It used to be used in short grammatical function words. Then he flips the book and reads through it, noting that it is a writing practice book and
